Stuart and Peter Coniston Char Fishing Champions 2015

Sunday 30th August 2015

Stuart and his son, Peter, won the 33rd Coniston Annual Char Fishing Competition.

They had the both the heaviest catch and the biggest fish.

Char are found in four of the deepest lakes in the Lake District and are caught from boats trolling an 80ft long line to which spinners are attached at 10ft.intervals on traces.

The spinners, which are home made from silver, brass or copper must be highly polished to attract the fish in deep and dark water.

Stuart Tells me that the secret of their success is that the spinners or "baits", which Peter carefully makes, whilst he is to navigate the boat and find the fish.
